Abby Bleakney sees ordinary problems as opportunities for creative solutions. Abby is currently a creative design strategist at WestRock, based out of Atlanta, Georgia, where she works on concept development, marketing, and design strategy. While at WestRock, she has worked with companies such as Kellogg’s, Coach, and Pizza Hut to develop engaging designs that honor each company’s individual goals and brand while meeting consumer needs.
Prior to working at WestRock, Abby studied architecture and design at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. While attending MICA, she was an instructor with the college’s community arts program, an instructor at the American Visionary Art Museum, and an instructor at Baltimore Clayworks, where she coordinated the ceramic mural at Jubilee Arts Center as well as other murals with the Rebuilding through Art Project. In 2014, Abby transferred to the Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in industrial design. While there, she served as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the university’s Sustainability Office and as the Vice President of Outspoken, a major student organization. She graduated in the spring of 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in industrial design and a minor in packaging science. In her little spare time she enjoys woodworking, biking, and experimenting in the kitchen.
